You can import one or more tables into the Library or add them to a new or an existing flow.

  • You must have read permissions on any database and tables for import.

NOTE: When you import a table, the data is not stored in Trifacta®. What you create is an imported dataset, which is simply a reference to the source of the data. Data is imported only when it is need for processing jobs.

  1. From the menubar, click Library.
  2. In the Library page, click Import Data.
  3. In the Import Data page, select the required connection where the data is stored.

  4. Navigate to the required database, and locate the table to import. Click the plus icon next to the table.

Tip: You can select multiple tables from the database and add it to a flow.

Tip:  You can apply a custom SQL statement to import from a database.

  5. In the right panel, click Edit Settings to modify how the table or tables are imported.

NOTE: By default, the application applies a few steps to table-based imported datasets to attempt to organize them into tabular format and hides these steps from your recipe. As needed, you can disable these automated steps, so that the steps themselves appear in the Recipe panel.

  6. Click Continue to add the dataset to the flow.
