Download and Use Predictive Tools
Important
Please refer to the Version Support Policy page for information on the R version that is included with each Designer version.
The predictive tools include all tools in the Predictive category. The default installation of Designer does not include all predictive tools. To install the entire set of predictive tools, you must download and install them separately from Designer.
You must install Designer before you install the Predictive tools. For Designer 2026.1 and later, Designer is installed via the Alteryx One App.
Admin Versus Non-Admin Installation
Installation options include admin and non-admin. Generally, the admin installation applies to all users on a machine, whereas the non-admin installation does not.
If you use the admin version of Designer, you need the admin installation of the predictive tools.
If you use the non-admin version of Designer, you need the non-admin installation of the predictive tools.

Installation Path Requirements
Predictive tools do not work if the Designer installation path includes non-ASCII characters (for example, Cyrillic, Chinese, or Japanese characters).
Starting with the 2026.3 release, when you upgrade to a newer version of Alteryx Designer, Designer records the supported R and Python versions in InstallInfo.xml. When you upgrade Designer, R/Predictive Tools are uninstalled only if the supported version differs from the version in the new install. A reinstall, using the standalone installer, is only required when the installer detects an incompatible version.
If you attempt to install a version of R/Predictive Tools that is incompatible with your Designer version, a warning message alerts you to the compatibility issue, and you won't be able to proceed.

Important
This option is available for Designer versions 2025.1 and later. To download products, you must have Admin, Full, or Basic User access.
Install
Double-click the installation file to open it. Accept the default configuration or select an activation option.
Use
To use predictive tools...
Launch Designer.
Select Predictive on the Tool Palette.
Drag a tool from the Predictive Tool Palette onto the workflow canvas to start building a workflow.
