Manage Ask Alteryx Chats

Ask Alteryx saves your chats, so you can come back to a chat and continue where you left off. Chats are private to you and to the workspace you use them in. Chats you start in Designer or Live Query are also available here.

Find a Chat

Where your chats appear depends on your homepage:

  • If your homepage is named Home, your chats appear in the Chats section of the left navigation pane, with the most recent chats first. The section appears after you start your first chat.

  • If your homepage is named Overview, select Ask Alteryx in the left navigation pane, and then select Recents.

Select a chat to open it. The chat opens with its full history, and you can send a new message to continue.

Start a New Chat

  • If your homepage is named Home, select the new chat icon next to Chats. Alteryx One opens the Home page, where you can enter a new request.

  • If your homepage is named Overview, open Ask Alteryx, and then select New chat.

Pin, Rename, or Delete a Chat

To manage a chat, select the menu next to the chat name, and then select an option:

  • Pin: Keep the chat at the top of the list. If your homepage is named Home, pinned chats appear under Pinned, and other chats appear under Recents in the Chats section. To move a chat back, select Unpin.

  • Rename: Enter a new name, and then press Enter.

  • Delete: Delete the chat. In the Delete Chat dialog, select Delete to confirm, or Cancel to keep the chat.

When you delete a chat, only the chat is deleted. Workflows and datasets that you used or created in the chat stay in Library.

Nota

If you use Ask Alteryx in the Alteryx One desktop app on Windows with Designer installed, deleting a chat doesn't delete the chat's session folder on your computer. Session folders are in %APPDATA%\Alteryx\Sessions. A session folder can contain local workflows that Ask Alteryx created and files those workflows produced, such as run outputs. Files you upload to a chat aren't saved there.

You can delete a session folder after you delete its chat. Before you do, copy any workflows or outputs you want to keep.
