Microsoft OneDrive Connections

Create a connection to your Microsoft OneDrive instance from the Designer Cloud Powered by Trifacta Enterprise Edition.

Limitations

  • Single Sign-On (SSO) is not supported.

  • The Microsoft OneDrive connection supports only import. Publish isn't supported.

  • The Microsoft OneDrive connection uses OneDrive APIs. As a result, transaction management and rollbacks are not supported.

Prerequisites

  • The logged-in user must have required access to the specific Folders within OneDrive.

Configure

To create this connection, on the Connections page select Create Connection and then search for Microsoft OneDrive. Then select the Microsoft OneDrive card. Go to the Connections Page for more information.

Modify the following properties as needed:

Property

Description

Default Column Data Type Inference

Set to disabled to prevent the platform from applying its own type inference to each column on import. The default value is enabled.

OAuth 2.0 client

Use OAuth 2.0 authentication to access OneDrive. Note that for OAuth 2.0 authentication, additional configuration is required. See OAuth 2.0 for OneDrive.

Authenticate

After you've defined the credentials, select Authenticate to validate them.

Using Microsoft OneDrive Connections

This section describes how you interact through Designer Cloud Powered by Trifacta Enterprise Edition with your OneDrive files.

Uses of Microsoft OneDrive

The Designer Cloud Powered by Trifacta Enterprise Edition can use OneDrive for the following tasks:

  • Import CSV and Excel files by reading from OneDrive.

Before You Begin Using Microsoft OneDrive

  • Read Access: Your OneDrive administrator must configure read permissions.

Reading from OneDrive

You can create an Alteryx dataset from a file stored in OneDrive. To start, choose between files and folders organized under My Files or Shared with Me. Then, navigate to the file that you want.

For more information, go to Database Browser.

Data Validation issues:

  • No validation is performed for the connection and any required permissions during job execution. So, you can be permitted to launch your job even if you do not have sufficient connectivity or permissions to access the data. The corresponding publish job fails at runtime.

Known Issues

  • If you’ve recently granted or revoked access to a OneDrive asset, you might not notice the change immediately in the Microsoft OneDrive Connection. Please try again later.

  • The Microsoft OneDrive connection supports only import even though an option to publish might be displayed. (TSMC-1730)
