New Features
December 12, 2024
Dataset requirements have been relaxed to support the display of "simple" datasets within Data Tables in Auto Insights Reports. Datasets are no longer required to contain one or more Segment columns, however datasets without rich dimensions will not be able to take full advantage of "What caused this?" and other automated analytics.

Introducing the Public Preview of Magic Reports!
Experience the power of automated insights, the flexibility of an advanced editor, and the intelligence of AI to supercharge your reporting capabilities. Auto Insights Reports is designed to streamline the process of generating rich, interactive reports that provide quick, actionable insights from your data.
Key highlights of Magic Reports:
Automated Insights: Surface real-time insights with ease! Magic Reports automatically refreshes your data to highlight trends, outliers, and key metrics, helping you keep pace with your business dynamics.
Advanced Editor: With an intuitive editor, you can fully customise the report layout. Add text, images, tables, and various analytics blocks – from KPIs to detailed charts – for a report tailored to your audience’s needs. Users can choose between different analytics blocks – such as Insight Cards, KPI Tiles, and Data Tables – and effortlessly configure them to highlight the metrics that matter.
Intelligence of AI: Let AI craft executive summaries and generate insightful commentaries, saving time and enhancing the quality of your analysis. AI Assistant in Magic Reports also helps with summarisation, rephrasing, and even translation!
Auto Insights' AI features are powered by Azure OpenAI, ensuring data encryption and privacy. Workspace Admins can enable or disable specific AI capabilities through the Admin Portal.
Whether you're a data analyst or a business leader, Magic Reports offers a seamless way to create, format, and share insights that drive impact. See Reports for more information.

Auto Insights datasets can now be connected to an Analytics Cloud dataset, resulting in the data being replaced by the Analytics Cloud dataset source. Connecting an AI dataset to an Analytics Cloud dataset will prevent it from being administered (shared, etc) in Admin Portal, and will allow it to be shared, scheduled, and orchestrated via Analytics Cloud. See Replace Dataset.

Auto Insights Datasets are now integrated with Alteryx Analytics Cloud, and data can be imported into Auto Insights directly from an Analytics Cloud Dataset. Benefits include:
Leverage Analytics Cloud Connections—Support for 70+ connectivity options to import data into Auto Insights, including Databricks Unity Catalog, Amazon S3, Google Analytics, Google BigQuery, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, SalesForce, and more.
Tighter integration between Designer Cloud and Auto Insights—Cloud Workflow > Auto Insights Dataset > Auto Insights Mission > Automated Insights.
Improved dataset refresh capabilities—Multiple refresh schedules per dataset, streamlined ingestion workflow, improved visibility of dataset refresh progress within Auto Insights (see Manage Dataset), manual “refresh” action, and orchestrate dataset refresh on the success of previous Cloud workflow using Plans.
Start with Data—Start with an Analytics Cloud Dataset and select "Use in Auto Insights" from the Data UI to begin your journey into Auto Insights.
Centralised Asset Management—Auto Insights Datasets are now shown within the Analytics Cloud Library, allowing centralized management including scheduling and sharing alongside other Analytics Cloud assets. Furthermore, scheduling a dataset refresh (update), as well as sharing a dataset is now available directly in the Datasets page in Auto Insights.
The maximum supported dataset size from a Database Connection in Admin Portal or data imported via Analytics Cloud has been increased to 17GB. The maximum recommended file upload remains at 2GB for files uploaded in Admin Portal, and 1GB for files uploaded in Analytics Cloud.
